One of many funny scenes in the original “Arthur” movie is when Hobson (played by the late John Gielgud) comes into the bedroom in the morning and, seeing Arthur in bed with a girl from the night before, says, “Pleeease stop that.”

Since two weeks from today is my birthday, I want to publish this wish list, which focuses on expressions I want people to stop using.

It’s Labor Day, but there’s still a lot of work to be done.

That became painfully obvious three nights ago when I went to see someone perform at a pretty well-known spot for live music here in the area.

Yup, there I go again with another reference to a well-known album.  The headline of this blog is an album by The Kinks.  For those of you who read what’s posted here each Monday, you’ll recall that four weeks ago I made a reference to an REO Speedwagon album title.

You hear it constantly as one of many reasons why you should always bring your ‘A’ game for every performance.  It’s really not just an expression.  You never know who might be there.

Did you ever notice your hand starting to form into a fist without your knowing it?  It’s usually when someone is telling you something upsetting.  Pay attention and look for that clue because it could serve as a warning that you need to keep your temper from flaring.

There is panic everywhere by not only computer users but even all of us who interact daily with a smartphone or tablet.  Something malicious called Stagefright is a threat to all of these devices.  Warnings are being issued.  No platform seems to be exempt.

Are you old enough to remember the 1978 album by REO Speedwagon called, “You Can Tune A Piano But You Can’t Tuna Fish”?  (As someone who likes old-time comedies, it kind of reminds me of the Stan Laurel line from the 1930 short, “Brats,” when he says, “You can lead a horse to water, but a pencil must be lead.”)

The blogs I write, the “Bonus” I give out on each episode of the podcast – heck, the podcast itself – there is a general thread woven throughout all-things-Now-Hear-This which is gratitude, kindness, being a pro, getting ahead – you get the picture.

The Ybor Daily Market Summer Concert Series is well underway, with three of the 13 dates now in the archives.  The remaining ten will be spread out over this coming Saturday and then the five Saturdays in August and the four Saturdays in September.

Here in Tampa Bay the sports media were bringing statistics to the forefront about how the Lightning were the best home team in the National Hockey League during the recently concluded regular season.  And they further pointed out the irony in the playoffs that the team was suddenly much more successful on the road than in the friendly confines of Amalie Arena.
