Notable Guest Quotes

"I stepped off the plane (in Nashville) and I knew I was home.  And I was like, 'Okay, great'."

"The number seven is for me, throughout my entire life, has just been a very good number.  For me, for some reason, good things happen, and the number seven is always involved.  So when I was sitting down to start picking songs and everything, I literally knew we were going to have seven slots."

"I think it makes you more comfortable if you write with someone that you're a friend with or that you at least know well, just because you're kind of not nervous to throw out a line and it kind of be rejected."

"As a songwriter who is an artist too, I really like to write with my friends.  And the reason why is, if I walk into the room with a stranger, they think that they're going to know what Ashley wants to say... When it's my friends I feel like they really just kind of get me and understand me.  So, they kind of know what my brand is, they know what I'm going to say, what I would do."

"I was a songwriter first and foremost, and then when I came to Nashville people were like, 'Ya' know I really think that you're an artist'... I still write five to seven days out of the week, and sometimes it's multiple times a day."

"If anyone's ever been to Nashville, we've got one amazing community here; writers just loving on each other, and helping each other out."

"If you want cuts, I think you need to get with somebody and write with somebody who is an artist... But... be a friend first, be a good friend, get to know their likes outside of just music... And just be a good friend and a good person, and when you write with them just remember that they're the artist and they need to feel comfortable with you."

"I think my songs are like my business card."

"I kind of made a list of, like, 'If You give me a guitar and if it meets all of these really clear specifications, then I'll learn how to play and I know You want me to pursue country music. ' So that was my deal with God."

"If you're a younger artist and if you're trying to do it, I think, for starters, everything is business.  So, understand, like, with endorsement deals, it's not just glamor and free stuff.  You do have to hold your end of the bargain and help them out.  And it's just a business transaction.  So be an artist that you would want to do business with.  Be that person.  Have a following, take good pictures, post 'em, talk about 'em, use the gear responsibly."
