Notable Guest Quotes

“I love to write with other people.  I feel like if I write by myself I can only get so many opinions.  And the song is kind of small if I write alone.  But with other people, I can have a cool idea for something and they can completely switch it and it turns out even better.”

“A great songwriter can write anything, and they mesh well with other songwriters.  Even just meeting them for the first time.”

“I knew I wanted to do it from a young age.  I was always so drawn to entertaining people.”

(on how she is getting opportunities with big names) “Hard work.  Real hard.  Sacrifice.  A lot of sacrifices.  And, being nice to people.  You always have to be nice.  You never know who you’re sitting down talking to.”

“There’s a lot of people and so you have to over sing, and then when an important gig comes up your voice is shredded.  So, I just kind of put my personal career before singing at (work).”

“I feel, personally, that when I do take lessons, I get on stage and sing and I’m overthinking about what I’m doing and I make sure I’m singing right instead of just having a good time and I feel like I start to sing very cookie cutter when I take too many vocal lessons.”

“Growing up my mom always had this saying, or this analogy where, ‘If the train starts slowing down, get on another one.  Hop off the train.  Don’t ride the slow train.’”

“My life and career as a country singer-songwriter has been nothing but serendipitous – the right place at the right time.”
