Notable Guest Quotes

“On my mom’s side there runs a long line of conductors – Hall of Fame conductors – people that you probably wouldn’t know unless you win their award in Florida.”

“I kind of cut my teeth in the recording, and a lot of the music that I enjoy doing – producing and making tracks – with my uncle, and my uncle is Gary Grant and he is, has been, a longtime L.A. horn player, a studio musician… We're talking about him playing with Elvis and Sinatra and all of Michael Jackson's records and anything Quincy Jones did.  I mean, thousands of movies, thousands of records, thousands of commercials, he played for The Simpsons for I don’t know how many years, just retired from that a couple years ago.”

“I was literally baptized into music and to different instruments and sounds my whole life.”

“I… had a couple of offers to do major record deals and I didn’t take them at the time… I knew my personality and … fame would’ve probably destroyed me.  Being popular at the time in my undeveloped brain would’ve probably done me in… I think there was maybe five contracts, from New York to L.A…. and Nashville.”

“I was asking myself what I wanted to do and that… experience helped me define what I want to do in music and that’s to create something genuine and that's to not be told what I have to sing or what I have to wear or what I have to look like.  To me it was more about how can I help others.”

“I was sitting in a studio in L.A., everybody was laughing at a joke, and I had this inward voice that goes, ‘Is this what you want?’  Like, oh my gosh, it kind of shook me to my core… And I could not answer Yes.”

“I think there was maybe nine or ten of us (musicians) at New Year’s Eve for possibly maybe eight to ten thousand people at Pier Park here.  It was just, the whole stage was full of players.”

“I don’t enjoy playing solo.  And a lot of people are like, ‘What?  What do you mean?!’  I will… but I’d much rather be with someone else, making music.  I’m a very collaborative guy.”

“I've been so just fortunate and blessed to know amazing people and we've had different political opinions, we've had different religious opinions, and all of those things, but it doesn't matter; they're very collaborative in nature as well, and so we don't make that a bone of contention about how we play, it's just all about the music.”
