Notable Guest Quotes

“I played original music for a really long time, touring around, only doing that, and, (Suede Austin) is the most popular project I’ve ever been a part of.  Sometimes I feel like a rock star.  Sometimes I’ll be walking around and somebody recognizes me.  It happens more and more often as the years go by and as our following gets bigger.”

“It’s hard to book here in Austin because there’s so many musicians and so many venues.  It definitely gets our foot in the door a little easier because of our reputation, but still, nonetheless, we try to get in choice venues so that we can be seen, to attract that kind of attention.”

“The money’s decent, but you really have to love what you do to do this, to be a musician, period, but yet alone go out and play every weekend.”

“There’s been songs we’ve brought in that were just total bombs, and we all thought it was gonna go over great.  And then there are other songs that we brought in that we didn’t think were gonna go over that great that are just like a staple now in our show.”

“I think it’s very important as a singer, as a musician period, no matter what instrument you’re doing, that you incorporate lots of different warm-ups.  Your ritual before the show is actually very important, especially as a singer.”

“Being a singer is a very high maintenance instrument… Your diet matters, your physical fitness matters, how you speak throughout the day, what muscles you’re using…”

“I think pacing yourself is the most important thing, more than (vocal) rest, is that you just figure out how to use your voice right and pace yourself.”
