"Really the key to happiness, really, and to everything good is to accept ourselves and love ourselves for who we are."
"I'm kind of a purist with writing. It's like, if you think about a song that's been covered a whole bunch, like the song, 'Yesterday,' by The Beatles, ya' know the instrumentation is, like, not terribly important; it's the words, it's the melody... The song is the song. I feel like the instrument isn't a huge focus for me."
"To be honest, in the past there were things that producers did with my songs that I didn't really super like... In my head, I heard something a little bit different. But when you're working with a producer you're paying them to go with their vision of it."
"This business really takes a certain kind of personality. You have to really, you have to be able to let the rejection roll off, because there's a lot of it, no matter what."
"It's actually harder to sing, like be lip syncing and paying attention to driving, than you would think it is."
"Music videos aren't held to the same standard as Hollywood films."
"I've been making music for over ten years, making original music, and I was terrified to do a video. I don't consider myself on-camera talent."
"I did an Open Mic and I was trembling. I mean, I was shaking at this Open Mic. And I got a lot of really positive feedback. So, I kept getting positive feedback, and then, so, I just made myself do it. And then I got some professional, I did some classical voice lessons."
"If people don't really want to do this, it's not worth it. I mean, music is not the easiest field."
"People should definitely follow their creative pursuits, whether it's music or something else. Because you've gotta keep yourself, you can't lose yourself in being of service to other people in sacrifice. I don't think we're meant to sacrifice who we are for other people. You have to preserve yourself and follow your own path. Of course, not be selfish, but, that's why it's balancing."
"Music is more of an uphill battle when it comes to the practicality of income."
