Blues-pop duo based in Nashville who released an EP earlier this year, three singles since then, and have more new music coming out. They both write, sing, and play guitar, and they had NINE songs on the TV show “Nashville” and a song on "Gray's Anatomy." The last two weeks of October they performed ten shows in Europe, one month after having done ten shows in the UK, where they had also done three shows in June and July. They have been all over the U.S. this year as well and have more live dates coming up in early December. They have over 125 thousand monthly listeners on Spotify and have performed routinely at the likes of the Bluebird Cafe and the Grand Ole Opry.
(Sarah) "You just have to go in with the end goal in mind and just know, 'I'm gonna walk in here today. I'm gonna get a song I love. I'm not gonna be afraid'."
(Sarah) "We have a lot of different musical influences and we really play a lot of different kinds of music. We play blues. We play pop. We play rock. We play a little bit of country."
(Sarah) "We were writing with a lot of different people. A lot of the people that we write with kind of double as engineers or producers and so we got the chance to play with a lot of different sounds. That meant that a lot of these songs sounded different."
(Justin) "Since we know who we are and, just, it will always be the two of us and really the guitar and that kind of thing and just the way our voices kind of play together, if anything we don't ever have to go into these sonic spaces that we're exploring here, ever again. But, it's kind of cool that we've set the precedent that we could - if we wanted to."
(Justin) "We're artists and so we're gonna do kinda what we need to do. But we also never consciously do something that we feel like is gonna hurt a fan's perspective or anything just because we do care."
(Sarah) "We get along - we just, sometimes it's like we have the same brain almost... We have the same exact goal in mind and we want the same thing. And I think we also both have each other's best interests at heart. So, when we come up with an idea or you have an idea, you're thinking of the other."
(Justin) "Half the reason we became a duo, I feel like, is because neither of us really wanted the spotlight, individually."
(Justin) "Maybe it's just the nature of being an artist or being just competitive, I don't know, you always feel hungry and you feel like nothing's ever quite good enough. The victories are always really sweet for a second and then you're just ready to get on with it."
(Justin) "It's very important, I feel... to take stock of when you do something cool, that feels cool to you, to really enjoy it and savor it."
(Sarah) "We've done the Opry over 60 times, I think, and we still pinch ourselves when we do it. It's just, it's one of the greatest honors in all of music, I think."
