"If I have to sit and write, and think, 'I have to make a song,' I think I'll get nothing. So I kind of have to just be open-minded and let the ideas come to me."
"I'm very hands-on. I make all my album artwork. I like to be part of the whole entire process."
"When I was doing the album art... I took a selfie... and edited it completely so you do not know that it was a selfie and you did not know that I was in the bathroom!"
"You have to go with your gut in everything you do because then you're going to regret it and feel like, 'I knew I should've listened to myself'."
"It's really hard to always keep your name out there, so I personally like just (releasing) singles... If you do it all at once in a little EP I feel like that's your big release and then if you have nothing to release for a while you're kind of stuck with just lingering off of that."
"I think it's probably easier when the lyrics come to me, but it's really fun when I'm given a track to write to."
"When you're preparing your presentation of the song, have a few example songs with you that have sounds in them that you like so that if they give you something back that you don't really like that much, you can say, 'How 'bout a little bit more like the one I showed you'?"
"If you don't put 100 percent I feel like what's the point?"
"When it comes down to it, you can get all these really cool opportunities but it's still, you have to be able to hustle and you have to be able to keep your head and your hands and your feet in this game."
"It's like the craziest thing, when you're singing in front of that many people. I can't explain it, but it feels like flying."
"If you can't really connect with the song, it's gonna be hard for you to communicate it with the audience."
"Focus on every word that you're singing. That will help you not think about random things like toilet paper commercials."
