Having already opened for national Christian recording artist Kutless, this young band based on the Kansas-Missouri border is now taking on country music and playing shows in cities all the way up as far as into Washington State. Twin brothers Mason and Micah Marrs discuss highlights, lessons they’ve already learned, and the new release they’re working towards.
“It's very important that you never take any performance lightly, that you always show up with the same intensity, … no matter what, no matter where you came from, or what you’re doing. You never know who's going to hear you in the crowd that could potentially have a gig opportunity for you.”
“You have to be willing to put yourself out there and being willing to be able to hustle the gigs a little bit. You got to put in the work and effort in the beginning to see the fruit of that.”
“It is important to understand that the time you are going to spend with the fans after does have an impact and anything that you can say to them, any picture you can take, is going to impact whether or not you’re brought back to do something the next year. (It’s) also important when you are talking to the organizer of the event or the sound guy. Any interaction you get you want to project professionalism in the sense (that) anything you say or do there reflects on you and your band. It’s so much more than playing music.”
“It's always good to surround yourself with people who have qualities that you don't because it is going to ultimately enhance your product with whatever you’re trying to do.”
“I think if you are going to spend some money in marketing, just some advice, spend it where you’re not getting many invitations to come play because it is going to pay off.”
