(Cilette) “I think music helps people to really get to the essence of their own emotions about certain subjects.”

(Roman) “I think the classic 60s and 70s protest songs, I think those are not as prevalent as they used to be and that’s, I think that’s the job of an artist is to comment on things that are going on in the world and get people thinking about them.”

(Roman) “We actually wanted to release the album on vinyl… We have some friends here that have a fantastic record store, an old fashioned record shop… and they tell us they sell more vinyl to younger kids these days than they do CDs.”

(Cilette) “When we came out with ‘True,’ (our friends) sent it to (Aaron Neville) and just said, ‘Oh, ya’ know, Gypsy Soul says Hello, and we wanted you to hear their new record’ and he came back with this quote that, we were just blown away, it was really a gift.”

(Cilette) “I think that’s something that young artists might forget, ya’ know, it’s about building a relationship.  And if you show enough faith in your own work and your ability, people will want to help you.”

(Roman) “You have to move away from (only playing in) your hometown because I think you get a skewed idea of your viability, actually.”

(Cilette) “From the first record, we didn’t go looking for a record deal in the beginning.  We made a record and the record deal found us.”

(Roman) “Emails are still the most important thing you can do as an independent artist.”
