Notable Guest Quotes

“A lot of the lyrics I write and, I’ve even made the conscious effort to sometimes steer away from it, are a bit morose, are a bit, I guess, cutting, or, what I would call real, because that’s the stuff I chew on and think about.  So even if I’m desirous to write a pop sounding song… the content, I have a hard time holding back.”

“The hope is, through YouTube, through NoiseTrade, that people are like, ‘Oh, I like this.  Let me go down the rabbit hole further and support this person.’  So, I’m reaching my hand out first and hopefully they’re grasping it and then we’re going for a walk.”

“At the end of the day,… it is quality over quantity.  If I have a hundred really strong fans that care about my music, that’s better than ten thousand people that maybe have heard 30 seconds of one of my songs.”

“Sometimes, you do have to, to make a tour work, sometimes you gotta take those gigs that, experientially, aren’t off the charts.  But, you get paid and you hopefully impact a few hearts while you’re there and you eat well and you have a drink or two and you move on.”

“I never consider house concerts a filler gig.  I treasure and value every opportunity to be heard in that kind of scenario.”

“I do 99% of my own booking, right now at least.  I honestly don’t want it to be that way forever, because when somebody sees me at a show, they’re seeing the very last step in what I’ve done.”

“If I’m going to put food on the table and pay rent, I can make a CD.  But if nobody buys it, if nobody hears me live, if nobody connects with me, well, then I can’t make another one.”

“House concerts, I would say, you’re not the focus, but the music’s the focus.  So, it’s an opportunity for people to experience the lyrics, melody, and dynamics on the level that they were meant to be experienced.”
