Podcast logo“Now Hear This Entertainment” is a weekly podcast featuring interviews with guests who are having success in entertainment – primarily music.  A new episode has been delivered on-time, every week since February 2014.  The show has gotten listeners from 165 countries around the world and is one of the top two percent most popular shows out of more than 3.2 million podcasts globally.  “Now Hear This Entertainment” has had multiple placements in the iTunes Top Ten (Music category) and the show has received two honors and been nominated for three other awards. In late spring of 2021 it was in the "20 Best Entertainment Podcasts of 2021," as published by Welp Magazine.

Guests on NHTE have ranged from Roy Orbison, Jr. to the keyboard player for Aerosmith to the lead guitar player for Garth Brooks to the fiddle player for Taylor Swift to the drummer for Cheap Trick to the bass player for P!NK to the trumpet player for Billy Joel, plus, seven GRAMMY Award winners, two Rock & Roll Hall of Famers, a Las Vegas headliner, three Emmy Award winners, and even participants from “American Idol,” “The Voice,” “America’s Got Talent,” and “The X Factor” (including one singer who won “The Voice”).  Guests have come from an array of genres and locales (the latter to include 17 different countries).

NHTE 90 Alyse Black

A singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose new album is going into mixing and mastering, with hopes to release a single in the next month or two. She had several songs placed in movies and TV shows, and has toured the country playing over 700 clubs, theaters, festivals, TV shows, and radio stations. Among other topics, she discusses a four-month tour she’s planning for early next year, a recent endorsement deal that she got, and, being a mother and wife while being a touring artist.

NHTE 89 Chase Miller

Talking about his new EP, which comes out two days after this episode is released, this southern California singer/songwriter used GoFundMe for the project and shares his experiences with using that platform. He also discusses shows that he’ll be doing in December and January, airplay that he’s getting on FM stations around the U.S., and endorsement opportunities that he’s getting, plus having gotten a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Business as well as publishing deals that he got early in his career.

NHTE 88 Karen Waldrup

The Nashville-based singer/songwriter talks about having played live music all summer long, including 12 shows over three weeks across Ireland. She also discusses her new EP, which features a song whose video is on CMT. She gives her view of playing a new song live for the first time, working on a jingle for an NFL team, and more.

NHTE 87 Chelsea Crites

A singer/songwriter who is signed with Shoreline Records and was a house singer at the popular Tootsie’s in Nashville. She is working on a new album (planning to release new music in early 2016) to follow 2014’s debut EP. Writing songs since age seven, she talks about having juggled being a student with being a singer, how she got signed by a record label, and her recent trip to Halifax, Nova Scotia, for Canadian Country Music Week, which included performing for multiple showcases.

NHTE 86 Roger Fisher

The founding guitarist of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band Heart. He talks about his just released album “Rog & The Tribe Live 1,” a music instruction series called “Beyond Guitar” that he’s coming out with, and a book that he and his brother are writing that will talk about Heart “from a perspective that nobody has heard” that “is going to be a really good, revealing book.” He also introduces a four-album package entitled “One Vision,” the first of which is called, “All Told.”

NHTE 85 Jillian Speer

Working with a Grammy Award-winning producer she released an EP early this year but will put out a full-length album by the end of 2015, although she’s already getting played on about 70 college radio stations across the country. She talks about having walked away from two million-dollar deals and not regretting it for a second. Early in her career a self-released album of hers had great success that led to song placements on TV’s “Party of Five” and in an HBO film. Plus she played major festivals and even opened for Jewel.

NHTE 84 John Garza

A Grammy Award winner who has played alongside the likes of Carlos Santana, among others. He talks about having gotten to play in stadiums, a completed “body of work that should be out very soon," and extensive involvement with charities. The L.A. Times said he “has the earnest inflections of singers like Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots,” with his star quality compared to Jim Morrison and Roger Daltrey.

NHTE 83 Mark Andrew

A singer/songwriter who was on “The Voice” in 2013 and “American Idol” this year, in the latter case making it to the Top 16, which means he was among the Top 8 males. (He talks about his experiences with reality TV.) He is presently in the studio finishing up two brand new singles and talks about his upcoming crowdfunding campaign toward a new album. He released a self-titled CD in late 2011 and a single in 2013. He is a guitarist and plays live shows with a band based in Minnesota.

NHTE 82 Danen Kane

Has self-booked more than 2,000 shows nationwide, gotten radio play on a major national station out of L.A., plus the Associated Press even picked up an interview he did. He has opened for national Christian artists such as Building 429, Chris August, and The Afters. His album release earlier this year is just the latest in a line of CDs that includes one done live.

NHTE 81 Russell Foisy

Presently in the studio recording his next album, he talks about the prior release as well as it having been an Akademia Award Winner for Best Alternative Rock Album. He has a song currently being played on FM radio all over the world. And, another song of his is now #2 on the Independent Music Network Mainstream Charts. He tells how he achieved that exposure. For other musicians, Russell gives out recommendations on resources that have worked for him.
