Notable Guest Quotes

"I didn't grow up listening to emo, I grew up listening to punk rock where you get angry and you get over it.  So, when I'm writing songs I never really try to dwell necessarily in the moment that I'm in, I always try to find the silver lining, if you will."

"I think over the years I've found that Beebs and Her Money Makers is, the whole premise of the band is that we're our own superheroes and we have all this mythology surrounded by the band and we all wear these crazy costumes and I love doing that because I come from theater, but, I think that created a platform and an illusion that I was just this cartoon character and people would put a lot of pressure on me to solve their problems."

"Every artist is a real person and we're also super weird real people... so we a lot of times hide behind our music because that's how we deal with life.  And, I think people think that our lives are perfect or our lives are somehow better than everyone else's because we do what we do, but, they're not.  We go through all the same things and all the same emotions everybody else goes through."

"Things happen in life to everyone, no one can escape them.  Everyone has to deal with certain things that happen in life such as death and loss."

"Nothing I'm doing is unattainable.  Nothing that I am is unattainable.  I'm just a person figuring out life through my art and the art isn't even mine.  The gift of art and music was given to me to share with everyone to express all the feelings that we all go through, to give a song or a poem or art for a moment that you're going through because we all feel the same things."

"Literally the owner of Warped Tour came up to me and said, 'I think you guys are the next No Doubt.  I want you on all of Warped Tour next year.'"

"When all these aspiring artists are like, 'What do I need to be doing?  What should I be doing?'  You should be doing everything...  Don't bank on anyone giving you opportunities.  You have to create your own opportunities."

"Create the job for yourself.  Create your vision, because no one else is going to do it for you."

"When you're in the studio a producer is who you vibe with.  You're capturing a moment in time.  Just because you're paying someone who made another successful album doesn't mean they're going to vibe with you."

"Ska is super fun for live shows, but for singing I don't always get to showcase my vocal capability 'cause I'm singing real fast and jumping around and doing all this stuff and I'm really a soul/jazz singer at the end of the day, so I was missing being able to really sing really pretty."
