A blues artist and multi-instrumentalist, he has toured with B.B. King and Johnny Winter and released a number of CDs. He talks about performing with Southern Hospitality, who has gone to Norway, Slovakia, and Holland, and that they’ll be going to Canada and Switzerland this year (in addition to U.S. dates). Damon also discusses up-and-comers making a decision of whether or not to go out on the road. Plus he describes the balance between being a husband/father and a touring performer.

Notable Guest Quotes

“Sometimes when people make records – ya’ know, they make ‘em for many reasons – and obviously, we’re a traveling band, so when we go out on the road we try and make a record that we know people will like.  But I definitely am not into the idea of just being, like, ‘Well, ya’ know, it’s gonna help us sell more records, so let’s get this dude.’  If that was the case, just save up all your money and hire Robert Cray.”

“Your van is the most important thing.  You gotta keep it oiled.  You gotta keep good tires on it.  Your van is your surfboard to the future.”

“If (up-and-comers) have those ideas that there’s not gonna be anyone there and they’re not gonna make any money, they’re probably right.”

“You’re gonna go from night to night, town to town, and try and build a following, one night at a time.  That’s really tough.”

“When you go on stage, you have to have fun.  If you’re not having fun, the people watching you – whether it’s four people or it’s a thousand people – they can tell if you’re anxious, they can tell if you’re not having fun.  So do whatever it is that you do and have fun at it.”

“Good business is when everyone makes money.  If you’re just making money and everyone that you’re doing business with is not, that’s bad business.  Your fruits are gonna dry up and they’re gonna die.”
