Singer/songwriter Deanna Cheyne is the newest addition to the Now Hear This client list, it was announced today. Although she is based in the greater Tampa Bay area, she has performed well beyond the Sunshine State, including outside the country.
“Deanna is more than just another name on our client list,” said Now Hear This President Bruce Wawrzyniak. “Her talent is warmly welcomed, as she brings a mature and polished, professional sound. It will be a pleasure to serve her and enhance the solid foundation she already has in place.”
While the focus is on Cheyne (pronounced CHAIN) as a vocalist, she actually plays a variety of instruments, including piano, a plethora of brass instruments, and even has the basics in violin. Also worth noting is that, besides English of course, she is comfortable singing in German, French, and Italian, as a result of her classical training.
Equally impressive is the list of where she has performed, starting with Queen Elizabeth Hall in London (England), and followed by Philips Arena in Atlanta, where there was an audience of 20 thousand that included Bernice King, daughter of Martin Luther King, Jr. Deanna Cheyne has also performed throughout the United States and in Canada, Mexico, South America, and Europe.
Salvation Army Lt. Colonel Juanita Lodge said, “She displays an exquisite approach to the craft.”
Cheyne’s versatility has her performing in multiple genres, including easy listening, adult contemporary, and light jazz.
She is presently working on a CD whose working title is “Poison Tree,” scheduled for release in 2015. The project is still in the writing stages, although currently she says it is “about half-written” already.
For a sense of her sound, below is Deanna Cheyne singing “The First Time (Ever I Saw Your Face),” which was made popular by Roberta Flack and has been covered by, among others, Vanessa Williams.
