Working with a Grammy Award-winning producer she released an EP early this year but will put out a full-length album by the end of 2015, although she’s already getting played on about 70 college radio stations across the country. She talks about having walked away from two million-dollar deals and not regretting it for a second. Early in her career a self-released album of hers had great success that led to song placements on TV’s “Party of Five” and in an HBO film. Plus she played major festivals and even opened for Jewel.

Notable Guest Quotes

“I got a few record deals that I ended up walking away from ‘cause they just weren’t in alignment with my vision and they wanted to kinda do their own thing to meet with me, and I wasn’t having it.”

“In my career I’ve had four different million-dollar deals, I walked away from two of those million-dollar deals and two of ‘em dropped me right when the record business was kind of crashing, so to speak… So, yeah, I walked away from two million-dollar deals and I don’t regret it for a second because my art is more important to me than money and I would rather do it my way and the right way and stay true and stay in integrity with my art because that is what a true artist is.”

“It’s my job as a singer/songwriter to really carry the torch and represent the legacy that came before me.”

“I feel really grateful for the experience and the journey that I’ve been on in this music industry and I feel happy that I’ve stayed true and I really just don’t have a choice; it’s just, you have to go with your gut and what feels right.”

“I’ve always been kind of a, just, a non-conformist, so, people try to tell me what to do – I love mentorship, I love guidance, and I love wisdom, and I take it in like a sponge, but, I don’t do very well with people telling me what to do.”

“If you claim to be a musician you need to perform live.”

“When I had placements on television and film, it was more just my CD getting passed around.  There was a lot of people in the industry that had it and it was just kind of getting passed around and I think I just got lucky.  One person heard it that loved it.  They gave it to somebody that was a music supervisor.  And somebody I know gave my CD to the guy that was directing the HBO film.  He loved the music.  And so, it just kind of happened that way, which was very fortunate.”

“(dancing is) a really hard lifestyle and there’s really not a lot of money in it… I had to kind of weigh it out and go, ‘Do I want to work that hard and have that kind of lifestyle, or would I rather do the music?’  And, what really led me to the conclusion was that I really deeply fell in love with songwriting… I felt like I was in love with it.  I felt like I couldn’t live without it… (but) You’re kind of dancing somebody else’s dream, somebody else’s script.  So the songwriting was a way for me to express who I am and my heart and my teachings.”
