A return appearance to the show for this California-based country singer, songwriter, guitar player, who this time was joined by his producer (and lead guitar player), who were on-location at the 2018 Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim. At the time of the interview they were working toward the release of a single, expected to be followed by another, and targeting a likely full album release by the end of 2018, and the conversation continued to talk of a mini-tour to support the single(s). Miller also talks about working with publishing companies, plus his diverse influences, and, doing all this while planning for a wedding this November.
"I think that really a lot of it is surrounding yourself not just with talented people but the right people, at the right time, and they help you kind of excel in your career."
"I don't think you have to be in Nashville. I definitely think it helps to maybe go visit there, write some songs with people, make some connections there, but I think that Los Angeles/Orange County - where we're at and where we're based - is doing really well for us in what we're doing."
"Luckily everybody who's involved in my band isn't there for the money. They're in it really for the songs and what it's going to become. They believe in that."
"I don't really frown upon any type of music. If you want to show me something I'm willing to listen. Some of those things that I grew up on... I feel like I picked up on certain pieces of that. They've really influenced what has come."
(Nicky) "You gotta serve the song. It's not about your playing or what feels good on your hands at that moment. It's what the song requires. I think the best players are the guys who can really shred, absolutely, but then, where there's a song that doesn't require 64th notes all over the place that you can dial it back and get some harmonic stuff going."
