“I was actually lucky enough to have the opportunity to perform as a guest entertainer with Carnival Cruise Lines, and I’ve had residencies all around the world.”
“I write about love and life and what I’m inspired by.”
“A lot of my songs come quite quickly, thankfully, whereas I kind of think of myself like SpongeBob SquarePants as a writer where I’m kind of soaking up all of this information and the world around me and then I kind of like squeeze out like a sponge and it all comes dripping onto the piano or the guitar, whatever I find first.”
“…which kind of, a hundred percent, gave me the credibility to be like, ‘Ya’ know what, this has spread so far and wide, this incredible country music star that I listen to and fangirl over, ya’ know, has acknowledged (my) song,’ so I think that’s really cool.”
“Being a resident entertainer with Carnival Cruise Lines, somebody once said, ‘It’s like you’re on vacation,’ and it’s very true. I live where people vacation, but I got to do what I absolutely love, which is perform every single night.”
“I had a member of my audience, a fan, come up to me after one of my shows and say, ‘Oh my goodness, I am fangirling over you and your songs and everything you’re doing. I’m absolutely obsessed’. And I walked away from that going, ‘Oh my goodness, I love those words,’ and they kind of stuck with me … I’ve never heard of a song about fangirling. I think it would make such an interesting topic.”
“This show was about three thousand people, and I was so excited to actually headline the show… the minute we finished the show, the festival organizers came up to us and said, ‘Do you need help with line management?’ because the line of fans waiting at the merch table was – I don’t think they were expecting how long it was – we were there for a good hour after the show had ended, still signing (autographs), taking photos. I loved every second of it.”
“Guests will go, ‘What are your favorite songs to play,’ and I’ll always say, ‘My songs,’ because it’s true, I love being able to play my songs. So, a lot of my show becomes predominantly about sharing stories, and those stories happen to involve my originals.”
“There was a smaller group chosen to perform for Oprah Winfrey at The Oprah Winfrey Show when she came to Australia. Hugh Jackman was there. We got to sing with Russell Crowe and Nicole Kidman, right at the Opera House, which was absolutely amazing. We got to perform for Ellen DeGeneres when she arrived in Sydney… To be chosen as one of, like, ten people to perform for Ellen DeGeneres was a true honor.”
“When I was 15 (years old) I auditioned and was one of 40 to be flown from Paris to all around Italy – from Florence to Marostica to Venice to the Vatican and then Hong Kong – and while we were in the Vatican, we had the extreme honor of attending one of the Pope’s Masses… and we got to stand up in this incredibly ornate, beautiful church, and sing… for the Pope… Benedict XVI.”
“This music career and this journey and this whole goal of mine has always been to connect, and it’s not been about, ‘I’m going to give you something so you can pay me.’ It’s always been about, ‘I want to give you something that is worthy of your time.”
