Expect to hear a lot about filmmaker and award-winning actor Dalton Burdette and, particularly, his newest short film “The Local” this month. The Orlando-based CEO and Senior Content Producer of Movie Knights Productions has hired Now Hear This for promotion of this latest project, with pre-orders now being underway through Apple.
“I’m extremely thankful to Dalton for choosing Now Hear This to help promote him and ‘The Local’,” said Now Hear This President Bruce Wawrzyniak. “In working with songwriters there’s always an awareness of their original songs being their ‘babies,’ so I recognize the intimate relationship that a creator like Dalton has with his works, and thus the importance of sharing, in this case, ‘The Local,’ with as many potential viewers as possible. He’s proud of his work, rightfully so, and I’m proud of being in a position to be able to assist in getting him and the film out there more.”
Shot entirely on-location in several counties across Florida and with a running time of 32 minutes, “The Local” is in the action category. When a new gang arrives into town, it's up to now-retired hometown hero, Jackson Connelly (played by Burdette), to decide if putting an end to the terror is worth the risk of hurting the people he loves.
“I cannot be more excited about working with Bruce and Now Hear This,” Burdette said. “Every independent filmmaker will tell you that one of the hardest parts about making a film is getting people to watch it, and having someone like Bruce at the helm of promotion puts that worry to ease.”
So far, “The Local” has won Best Script at the LA Sun Film Fest and an Award of Merit for Best Action at the Vegas Movie Awards. In addition to those two, the film is an official selection so far of the Chicago Indie Film Awards, IndieX Film Fest, Independent Shorts Awards, and American Golden Picture International Film Festival.
The film’s official trailer can be seen on YouTube and the full cast and crew listing is available on the IMDb page for “The Local.”
Dalton Burdette is an award-winning actor known for “No More Safe Haven” and “Contrition.” He is also the host of the show called “The Movie Knights Podcast,” which can be seen on the Movie Knights official YouTube channel.
