An “Emerging Songwriters Hour” will feature three age 23-and-under artists at the 4th Pensacola Beach Songwriters Festival, taking place in the Florida panhandle in early October. To be held on Friday night, October 5th at 7pm on the stage at the Paradise Inn, the 60-minute spotlight will include Melissa Brethauer, Jourdan Pace, and Courtney Yovich. The one-hour feature will be presented by Now Hear This.
Having just turned 23 less than two weeks ago, Brethauer, a Now Hear This client, grew up in Navarre and still has family in Crestview. Yovich, the youngest of the three at age 15 (will turn 16 just before the festival), lives in Montana but has been spending a considerable amount of time in Nashville, which is home for Pace, age 19, who is originally from Pensacola.
“I am excited for the opportunity for us to present this showcase at this year’s festival,” said Now Hear This President Bruce Wawrzyniak. “All three of these young ladies are doing great things in music and have earned their time in this spotlight that I know the festival-goers will truly enjoy.”
Pensacola Beach Songwriters Festival Founder Reneda Cross said, “I loved this idea when Bruce first presented it and know that this will be a ‘don’t miss’ moment. This might only be our fourth year, but we challenge ourselves each year to be progressive in our planning and this feature reflects that.
“It has been so refreshing to see the young people that are writing songs and building momentum in the music industry. We’re happy to have them as part of the festival and look forward to delivering their music to the audience on October 5th.”
The festival begins on October 2nd with a day of visits to area schools by some of the songwriters, including Brethauer (pronounced BRETT-how-er) visiting Woodlawn Beach Middle School in Gulf Breeze. October 3-7 will feature performances at numerous “stages” (venues) around Pensacola Beach. The schedule will be published on the official website, www.pensacolabeachsongfest.com.
