Notable Guest Quotes

“It was so much fun because we made all these memories, but also we both got heat exhaustion.  By the end of the night, it was crazy.  But it was worth it because everything turned out amazing, but it was definitely crazy.”

“Whenever someone says… ‘I love your originals’ … that's just the best feeling in the world and that people actually want to hear the music that we're creating every single day and want to hear more of it, that is just such an incredible feeling, and it makes you feel like you're doing something right.”

“It's not an easy industry by any means at all but it's fun.”

“I am so grateful for Spotify and Apple for doing that because it really opens up a new audience… so I feel so grateful and blessed every time they do that because it really does make a difference in monthly listeners and in new audiences and new listeners.”

“The booking part of it I don't think should be based on that.  I think if you're a great performer, you're a great artist, your songs are great, then that's what it should be based on, not based on if it got on a playlist or not that spiked the numbers of the song.”

“That was something that I definitely dropped the ball on and that I've learned my lesson because I really just didn't think anyone would care or go listen to it or try to find it and I was wrong.”

“I went to Nashville for the first time when I was, like, 17 for ‘The Voice’ (audition) actually and I was like, ‘I love it here, this is so cool.’  And my parents talked to me and just said, ‘If you want to move there and try to do music, do it now and go back to college later because that's always an option’.”

“It was actually very hard in the beginning.  I didn't have any friends.  I worked at Chick-fil-A full time.  I didn't know how to get into music and also, I couldn't really go to any events because I was under 21.”

“I started playing downtown on Broadway on the main strip in Nashville, which I encourage every artist to do.  I always say that because I learned so many skills down there that I would have never learned.  I would have never probably gotten over – not that I had stage fright, but I definitely was more nervous than I am now.”

“Don't just play (on Broadway in Nashville) because you have to and it's your job and you're making money.  Use it as an opportunity to be your show and make it your show, don't just make it your Broadway gig.  Make people feel like they're at your concert and play some originals throughout and that's what I did and that really helped me a ton.”

“We're all different, we all have a different story, we have different songs, we have different voices.  We're all here with so much talent to offer.”

“It was just so cool and so inspiring that someone like Cody Johnson would take the time not only to say those things but to actually watch our set.”
