“When you’re writing songs you try to figure out the direction you’re trying to put a project, and, I think sometimes, as you’re writing, you come up with certain things that are just super catchy whether it’s a hook or a certain line.”
“I really feel like one of my biggest skill sets as a writer is being able to really expose truths of experiences and things like that, situations like that, that a lot of other artists are – whether it’s because of a label or just confidence or even if it’s just creative ability, maybe it’s not something that’s in their realm, being able to talk about – ya’ know, I’ve been through a lot of things in my life.”
“There’s a lot of, in Nashville and a lot of other music scenes – Texas music scene and other places, in L.A., New York, et cetera – there are super talented vocalists, artists, musicians, songwriters. What is the one thing that makes them stand out amongst the rest, no matter what genre it is, to be in that Top 100, or that Top 40 or get that Number 1? It’s, they’re willing to do anything and everything at all times to outperform and outwork the people that are in their realm.”
(on his upcoming album) “Musicians I have, by far, in my opinion, one of the best group of studio musicians I could ever ask for… They’re just, when I say dream team it’s like, that’s like your round one draft class.”
“Going through Covid over the last couple years I had the opportunity to really self-reflect on who I am as a person and also where I’m trying to go as an artist.”
“I always feel like everything that I’ve been given the opportunity for so far has been something that has come directly into, it’s just so organic and I don’t have to force it.”
“I’m from Florida and still got my house down there. I’m actually in the process of converting that house on that property into a songwriters retreat.”
“A lot of my music sonically is … the best way I could describe it, take Texas red dirt and outlaw country and then just mix it with this like southern rock, hard rock vibe. You’ll share a lot of those elements.”
“I never in a million years ever fathomed that being a business owner of a solar company and doing country music and doing whiskey that it would tie together and strangely enough it does.”
“At the end of the day I’m not here to just put a little jingle in my Wranglers. I’m not gonna just get a Number 1. I’m not here to just build a business, I’m here to build an empire.”
“I was offered the opportunity as a songwriter to write the song for a children’s book called Faraway Soldier… I read the book and wrote the song and it’s gotten picked up by different branches of the military.”
