A sister duo with both singing, playing guitar, and writing their original 80s-electro-infused pop songs. They just released a brand new single, and a music video to go with it. They have recently become members of the Recording Academy and have been featured in publications such as Billboard and American Songwriter. Their music has garnered more than four-and-a-half million streams on Spotify and they have opened for Death Cab for Cutie, among others, and performed at South By Southwest, among other festivals. They also beat out over two thousand bands nationwide in Project: Aloft Star to win a tour with Aloft Hotels and a single track deal with Capitol Records. They had first gotten picked up by Sony BMG when they were just 16 years old.
"...our trip to Coachella last year. We actually went as influencers for Marriott Hotels. And we just had, like, an amazing experience, um, VIP, crazy stories."
"We were having breakfast with Vanessa Hudgens and Kylie Jenner... fist-bumped with Lebron James... It was super cool."
"You can do so much with a very, very, very small budget."
"We're Mexican-American. Our grandmother was - is - a mariachi singer, but back in the day she was actually in a band and she would bring us along to some of her gigs and force us to play and sing songs with her."
"We picked up a guitar when Gab was nine (years old) and (Vic) was eleven and we started writing songs... And when we were 16 we got picked up by Sony BMG... and that kind of just made everything really real for us... So yeah, we started recording music professionally at 16 and we've been going at it ever since."
"We were just like, ya' know, why can't we sing in Spanish? ... We were just like, it's time. This is a huge part of who we are and it should be a huge part of our music too."
"A REYNA song is not a REYNA song until we have both put our words in there, our melody, our thoughts."
"Our plan was to release a new song every month for the whole year. But because of COVID it just felt very self-absorbing to be releasing and promoting music when all of these things were happening."
"Our colleagues that we've worked with, producers that are, writers that are, part of the (Recording) Academy, they nominated us (for membership), so, that's awesome to be acknowledged like that."
"People go to (South By Southwest) with the dream of getting signed and all of these things. And for us it turned into a new beginning as musicians."
