Notable Guest Quotes

"Ever since I was, like, 13, I guess, is when I started playing music and playing out and stuff, and I just kind of had it in me that that's what I wanted to do and just kind of took a year after high school to try and be, like, 'I wanna make sure,' and then I started visiting (Nashville).  And the first time I visited it was like, 'Yeah, that's it.  I'm gonna end up moving here'."

"...how I got into, like, the writing scene (in Nashville).  I was very fortunate that I knew somebody that knew a few people in that circle and then that just kind of grew from there."

"When I was six years old I started on piano.  I would say now I'm more proficient on guitar... The past couple years I picked up the bass."

"There's so many, like, chords you can do on piano that, you can make certain textures that you can't make on guitar, which is just really cool."

"When I first moved to (Nashville) a lot of people on Music Row would be like, 'Stay off of Broadway.  You don't want to get stuck playing cover gigs all the time.  The money can be good, and then a lot of people get stuck down there'."

"That was the hardest balance for me, is recognizing, like, 'Hey, I can't play more than three or four times a week or I'm going to be burned out for the writes I want to do and pursuing my artist career.'  So, it's definitely a challenge to try and balance all of that, for sure."

"That was a wild night.  We were playing at FGL House... and I just saw (Cassadee Pope) sitting back there and I was like... 'What if we just walk up to her and say Hey and ask her if she wants to sing a song?' ... She was like, 'Yeah, absolutely,' so she got up and sang... and I played... with her and sang some harmony stuff."

"(GRAMMY Award-winning) Blake Chancey, he produced the Dixie Chicks back in the day... I met him over at this publishing company's party... They were having a #1 party over there and I got invited... and Blake was there and we just started talking and I think I was, like, 20 at the time... we kind of hit it off... and it just kinda worked out... We have, like, six songs recorded right now."

"As far as getting more out on the road, that's definitely my main goal within this next year... As much as I'm able to travel and share the gift of music is what I definitely want to be doing."

"The people (in Denmark) love our music, which is really cool (that) you can go all the way across the world and people are into it.  So, it was a really magical experience.  It was like a fairy tale... The fact that they appreciated what we do was really humbling."

"Singing and playing guitar I feel like they almost, for me, kind of go hand-in-hand.  I feel like, I'm a huge fan of dynamics, kind of the push and pull of the volume and the sound, I feel like, is a cool tool to use when you're singing and playing that can just make a song, whatever you're conveying, a lot more interesting."

"That's the hardest thing to pinpoint as an artist and as a songwriter, you're writing for yourself and it's like, obviously I want to write something that is commercial... but also, create something that is a little not too left of center... that puts you in a unique category.  I feel like it's what we're all trying to do."
