"I don't like to sing about things that I haven't once been through because I like to explain the story behind the songs a lot of times when I have shows."
"There's so much stuff that I learned during the time that I was on (The Voice). Ya' know, a lot of it was kind of how the real music business is in real life because a lot of it is fast-paced and you're getting up early for interviews and then you're going straight to rehearsals and you're going to meetings."
"When you're trying to save your voice for really important performances it's important to know that when you're rehearsing you don't have to fully sing each time."
"Whatever anybody's interest is in life, you just have to use kind of what you enjoy to do to take it to the next level."
"Pretty much almost every other day I was coming home pretty upset."
"I go to a lot of anti-bullying events. I've done a ton over the years in my hometown."
"I was supposed to move to Nashville about two years ago and then I ended up having to get vocal surgery, which was a huge setback in my career. I was, ya' know, got off The Voice and I was doing a lot of touring and a lot of shows and then this one particular summer I was doing a bunch of shows and I realized my voice was starting to go out on me."
"I just knew that if I wanted to get further in my career and make this the goal to build up my contacts and make connections and build relationships, I knew that I wasn't going to be able to do that (in Philadelphia) unless I just wanted to stay local and be a local singer."
"I think a lot of artists think that they just need to record, record, record, and just throw a bunch of random material out there and I think, really, as an artist, you should take the time to figure out what it is that you want to say to your audience and the audience that you would like to reach instead of just throwing out songs that you think sound good (as) opposed to what do they really say to you."
