Singer, songwriter, guitar player George Maddox, front man for the band The Apalachicola Sound, is the newest Now Hear This client, as announced today by company president Bruce Wawrzyniak. The two met and signed the initial agreement two days ago in Tallahassee, Florida, where Maddox resides.
Maddox (second from left in the photo above) is currently in the studio recording new music, with a target of one new song per month for the next six months.
“In my 18-plus years running Now Hear This, I have had the opportunity to see a range of artists,” Wawrzyniak explained. “Some of them are hobbyists and are just kind of kicking the tires. Others are all-in and George Maddox fits into the latter category. It’s that much more exciting to start working with a new client when you know that it’s not just a hobby for them. I like that George is hungry to do more with his original music and I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to work for and with him to get wider exposure for The Apalachicola Sound.”
Just under six months ago the band opened for the legendary southern rock band Molly Hatchett.
The Apalachicola Sound’s music has been described as a blend of southern rock, country, and Americana. The band released their debut album four-and-a-half years ago, a ten-song effort titled “Gritwater.” After a new single in 2019 (“At Last”) they put out another ten-song album, “Snakeskin Halos,” last year.
The band's other members are Neal Goree (lead electric/slide guitar and vocals), Brett Crook (drums), and Sean Anderson (bass). The Apalachicola Sound's music has been aired as far away as the UK and is available on most major digital streaming platforms, such as Apple Music and Spotify.
